Back before the invention of synthetic and synthetic blend oils the common rule of thumb was to change your oil at 3000-5000 miles or every 3 months whichever came first. Now the synthetic and blends hold up a little longer so change should come at 5000-7500 miles and up to 6 months whichever comes first. This is great because the synthetic oils are a little more expensive than traditional oils. Also change your oil filter at these same intervals to protect your oil from contamination. These simple practices will help insure the longevity of your vehicle.
